  • What type of boiler do I have?
You can easily identify if you have a combi boiler by turning your boiler off then running a hot tap! If your hot water soon dissapears you have a combi. If your hot water keeps being hot you have either a system or a heat only boiler. To find out which of the two check the front of the boiler. A system boiler will have a pressure gauge directly on the boiler.
  • Do I need a new condensate pipe?
You will only need a new condensate drain pipe if your old boiler is non-condensing (usually boilers over 15 years old). To verify whether your have a condensate pipe already check under your boiler. The condensate pipe is a white, unpainted plastic pipe connected to your boiler. Not to worry if you can't locate it as we are more than happy to install a new condensate pipe for your new condensing boiler!
  • Can my existing thermostat be connected?
Yes, however it will not be covered by our guarantee. If you are converting to a combi system your existing programmer will not be compatible.
  • Do I need a combi boiler?
The two main advantages of a combi system is the mains water pressure at every outlet and saving of space that results from hot and cold water storage tank removal. If you have a good mains pressure (this can easily be verified via your kitchen cold tap) or are desprate for some extra storage space in loft and cupboard a combi is a no brainer! Combis are also cheaper to maintain, your whole heating and hot water system will be under one warranty whereas other systems have aged parts outside the boiler that may fail in the future and need renewing.
  • Do I need a powerflush or a magnetic system filter?
A powerflush is carried out using a big pumping machine that drives strong acidic chemicals through your radiators. Fear not the procedure is tuned to cause no harm to your system but at the same time it gets rid of built up rust and sludge. This not only prevents those particles from entering your brand new boiler in the future but also increases efficiency of your radiators and system as a whole. Generally if your radiators are over 6 years old a powerflush is reccomended. A magntic system filter is used to catch any residual rust and sludge before it enters the boiler. It is a great gadget that is commonplace on modern heating systems and will certainly pay for itself over the lifetime of your boiler.
