Full heating, underfloor and hot water system design and fit out, Streatham. This is how we do it ♫

One of our biggest 2025 projects took place in a 6 bedroom Victorian house in Streatham. The work spanning over 4 levels from underground basement to loft conversion at the top of the property.

One of the main reasons our client went ahead with our services over multitude of other local companies is our ability to carry out their full spec without involvement of any additional parties or sub contractors. Underfloor Heating via overlay panels

Both first and second floor heating for six bedrooms and five ensuites was to be delivered via an underfloor heating system. Being a typical period build this Streatham property had floor levels divided via timber joists, meaning a screed system which is typically used in underfloor heating installations is replaced by a panel system. These UFH panels (we used Fastwarm DUO 20mm panels ) can be fitted directly onto the floor with grooves already made for the underfloor heating pipework. Our task involved specifying correct type of low profile panels to deliver sufficient heat and not raise the floor profile more than necessary. As the system spanned multiple floors two manifolds were used and multiple pipe circuits to achieve even distribution of heat.

Underfloor heating controls

The major benefit of the Heatmiser underfloor heating control system installed is being able to easily control each zone completely independent of others. This is a lot trickier to achieve with traditional radiators. We utilised the excellent Neostat V3 wireless control with each bedroom receiving it's own underfloor heating thermostat.

Once we received a full brief from out customer in Streatham our office team prepared a fully costed quotation. Some of the specified materials listed:

Pressure gauges and drain off valves.

New heat source : Worcester Bosch 2000 24kw system boiler.

New hot water source: Gledhill 300l Stainless indirect unvented cylinder.

Commissioning the underfloor system

Once fully fitted, our underfloor heating system in Streatham was ready to be commissioned. We have successfully carried out a boiler installation, new radiator circuit and a hot water unvented cylinder fitted in the basement of the property to meet the hot water demands. Commissioning such a large system is no easy task but unfortunately is an often neglected step.

After purging the air from all circuits and running the system we established optimal boiler and pump settings to achieve efficient operation of the UFH system. The Heatmiser wireless controlls successfully synced up and tested. It is just as vital to demonstrate basic operation to the customer and this is something we take time to do at FITnFIX.

Once system is handed over the difficult part has been finished, but the journey for the customer just begins.
