Shower valve temperature malfunctions and leaks are a common issue, and we're experts at resolving them efficiently. We offer two convenient service options:

Expedited Service: If you can provide a receipt for your current shower valve or know its brand, we can often complete the repair in a single visit, arriving with the exact replacement part.

Diagnostic Service: If you're unsure of your valve's make or model, we'll schedule an initial visit to carefully diagnose and identify the specific part needed. We'll then return for a second visit to expertly install it.

Cartridge Re-conditioning: In some instances a faulty thermostatic / temperature cartridge can simply be de-scaled to correct any temperature issues. We only reccomend this as a temporary fix as a re-conditioned cartridge will likely have a signifficantly shorter life span than a brand new one.

We are able to source spare parts for nearly all showers. In case your shower is beyond repair we are also able to carry out a full replacement with minimal disruption to the bathroom.

Replacing built-in thermostatic shower valves

Built-in (concealed) shower valves are, as the name suggests, hidden behind your wall, often tiled over. 

While built-in shower valves offer a sleek, minimalist aesthetic, their inherent design makes them a more involved and time-consuming (and thus, more expensive) proposition when it comes to diagnosis, repair, and replacement compared to the highly practical and efficient thermostatic bar shower.

Below is a visual example of steps taken to replace an entire concealed valve. For reference this job took entire day.

Our team expertly built a new, robust shower frame within the cavity wall, ensuring the new shower will be securely supported. We then installed the customer's new shower and meticulously reconnected all the necessary pipework. To complete the aesthetic and ensure a watertight seal, we retiled the tiles that had been removed during the repair work and also regrouted our new tiles, as well as addressing some other cracked areas in the vicinity. An essential part of a seamless repair is availability of spare tiles, as often times without these it is impossible to obtain matching tiles. We offer an alternative solution using an acrylic backing sheet to cover removed tiles and this often looks better than a patch of tiles that do not match the rest.

Exposed thermostatic shower valves

Thermostatic bar showers, also concentric showers are surface mounted directly onto the finished wall. The pipe connections and the valve body are exposed and easily accessible. A plumber can simply turn off the water supply, disconnect the hot and cold feeds, unscrew the old unit from its wall fixings, and replace it with a new one. There's no need to damage walls or tiling. The job can often be completed within an hour or two for a like-for-like replacement, assuming the necessary parts are on hand.

The "quick-fix" nature of bar showers is a significant advantage over concealed showers. However generally speaking repairing exposed shower valves is not worthwhile as spare parts are costly and new units are quite cheap. Complete replacement also removes the need of an extra visit to identify required cartridges, saving on labour cost.
